Security network planning guide

How to Select an Industrial PoE Switch for a Security Project

Start with the number of powered devices, required PoE load, uplink type and network-management needs. This guide compares ERAITOK models for protected, cabinet-based security networks.

Four selection checks

Define the project before choosing the switch

CHECK 1

Powered-device count

Allow for the installed cameras or other compatible PoE devices and any planned spare ports.

CHECK 2

PoE power load

Check the total required PoE load and size the external DC power supply for switch consumption plus the required load.

CHECK 3

Copper or fibre uplink

Choose RJ45 for copper-only layouts or an SFP-equipped model when the project requires a fibre Ethernet uplink.

CHECK 4

Management and resilience

Use an unmanaged model for simple deployment or a managed model when the project requires VLAN, monitoring or ring protection.

Remote SC fibre option

Paired media converters for a remote Ethernet connection

IES-1F1E and IES-1F2E-P form a matched SC fibre data link. The fibre link carries Ethernet data only. At the remote location, IES-1F2E-P requires local DC input and supplies PoE only through its two RJ45 ports.

Single-fibre or dual-fibre configuration and 20 km, 40 km or 60 km transmission-distance variants are selected before ordering.
